About Carmy
CARMY STUBBS is a lover of the Word and its power for transformation and
healing. Through her poetry, short stories, writings, and illustrations, she explores
the creative force of the Heart and the finding of one’s True Voice. Carmy is the
author of the novel The Six Knowings of ASAIRA, a metaphysical fantasy, where all
her loves ~ the poems, the magic, the storytelling, and the search for the Divine~
weave themselves alchemically through text and illustration.
Carmy also holds Creativity & Silence Meetings and Workshops on Healing through Writing, Storytelling, and Art.
She lives in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, with her husband, Antonio, and their little dog, Milo.
The Six Knowings of ASAIRA challenges the Reader to participate and reflect on their life, and to answer the Call of the Heart.
The story itself is a remarkable, unique reading experience, magically intertwining text, poetic voice and illustration.
If the Reader says “YES!” they will be led into unravelling and unveiling the mystery of ASAIRA, and ultimately, the mystery of themselves and their life.

ASAIRA
A Metaphysical Fantasy for Adults and Young Adults
This is a story of transformation and self-realization, a spiritual quest that takes a young woman called Aileen into six magical realms, each with a profound revelation or 'Knowing'. Things take an unexpected turn when the Storyteller spirals into an existential crisis while Aileen is lost in one of the Realms.
Finally, the Reader must enter the story to save both Aileen and the Storyteller and ultimately, fulfil an Ancient Promise made at the beginning of humanity:
that ‘The 3’ ~ Aileen, the Storyteller and the Reader ~
are destined to meet and remember who they really are, a realization that will change our world forever.

Getting The Six Knowings of ASAIRA ready to publish
It's been more than ten years since I started writing ASAIRA. At the beginning, I thought it was just a short story, but gradually I realised there were going to be six stories in one. I ended up using six notebooks and over six hundred pages to finish the story! The next step was to get it all onto the computer and figure out how to do the drawings and the fun layout that had been created in the notebooks.
The writing, illustrating and editing of ASAIRA has been an incredible journey of self-discovery where, as the characters and the Reader in the book, I'm finding out who I really am. For me it has been a profound and magical process.
In September 2021, I decided to find a way to indie publish, but I had no idea how to get my final version into the required format.
That's when, at The Creative Academy for Writers, I met writer and book designer, Carmen Wright, and a new adventure began!

Hours of work, but oh, so worth it!
Carmen Wright and I took just over a year, but yes, so worth all the work!
Here's a little bit about the process that Carmen and I went through:
I re-did some of the illustrations and put in more colour, as well as drawing new elements like symbols to give the book that magical feel that I love so much.
Carmen took my original version and converted it into a book!! How did she do this? Well, by incorporating all the texts and illustrations into the format and layout that I had envisioned and thought was not even possible! It was an incredibly challenging job that needed many hours of work. We had to do a lot of reviewing and checking!
The finished book design is spectacular!

Why do I write
Poetry and Metaphysical Fantasy?
This is a question that only the Heart can answer. For it is the Heart that decided to express itself the only way it could and it started with poetry.... though, I would never have dared to call it poetry. It was just what the Heart was feeling, seeing, realising...

Creativity & Silence Meetings
A healing circle where a group of people are able to share from the Heart
⁓ words, sensations, music, songs, poems, drawings, dance, etc. ⁓
that either arise spontaneously, or that have been brought from home.
All is welcomed into the silence/stillness without judgement.
Every meeting is a unique, magical and joyous creation that comes into being organically in the Now.
The meeting starts off with silent sitting, followed by a guided meditation.
I facilitate throughout the meeting with different activities,
supporting and guiding when needed.
The C&S Meetings are being held in person once a month (Sunday afternoon)
at a private residence.

What to Bring
For the meeting, you can bring something to share which can be of your own creation or of another person:
a short extract to read, a quote, a poem, a drawing, an object, a song, some music, craftwork, a crystal...
or nothing at all is needed.
I also suggest bringing some kind of journal.

For quite a few years now, I have had a poetry blog.
Poetry is one of my passions. I love to sit down and let the words come as they want to come.
The result is unpolished but authentic and from the Heart.
Lately, I've also been feeling to share some "musings", short reflections about this mysterious Path of the Heart.
